What would you do?

Have you ever thought about what would happen if everything you know changed? Like if you woke up tomorrow, got online or looked outside, and found out that the life you knew yesterday would never be the same.

We are so blessed to live in the US, we’ve been blessed with decades of security that make it almost impossible to imagine the things we see happening across the globe taking place here.

Now I absolutely do not want to minimize the catastrophic events that we have experienced here in America nor the losses that Americans with family overseas have endured, as I can only imagine the pain and turmoil associated with that type of loss.

But what I’m asking you to imagine is something catastrophic - something that completely devastated life as we know it.

So, let’s imagine for just a moment. What if we were in a war-torn nation. What if our power grid went down, or if some global event happened that flipped everything upside down. The world was in destruction, and all nations had to come together to map out the way forward.

I think most people are familiar with fire drills. The point is to ensure everyone knows where to go and what to do in the case of a fire. You hope and pray it doesn’t happen, but it would be irresponsible not to prepare, just in case it does. So think of this mental exercise as the same.

Do you have a plan?

A few weeks ago I was at the hospital with my grandmother. The nurse comes in and I ask her a simple question, what is your records management plan in case the system were to go down? Puzzled, she looked at me and stuttered. That's a great question, I don’t know - why do you ask? We do everything on the computer, I have no idea what we would do - hopefully that doesn’t happen.

I don’t know about you, but if a global emergency happens, I would expect a hospital to do more than “hope it doesn’t happen.” Because hope can inspire and motivate, but it is not a substitute for a concrete plan of action.

I mean it’s not a farfetched question. To prove the point, here are three real life headlines that demonstrate how this could happen any day:

Now as an example of what one of these types of events could do. We  can look to the past - such as, in 1989, the Canadian region of Quebec experienced something that likely shocked many of its residents: the Sun knocked out its power grid. Caused by a geomagnetic storm, the resulting blackout made six million people lose power for nine hours. Known as 'the day the sun brought darkness,' the blackout exemplifies both the potential effects of solar activity on modern technologies and our relative unpreparedness for a major solar storm.

Now think about it - if something like that were to happen today - where our entire lives are reliant on technology - the impacts could be catastrophic.

Hopefully these real life headlines help you get a little more into the mental exercise.

So I ask again…what would be your action plan of action? What would you do if it all changed in the blink of an eye.

For those listening that don’t have faith, what hope would you have? If suddenly all the lights went out, the internet crashed, or some crazy natural disaster happened that flipped your life upside down, who would you turn to?

Now for people with and without faith, I want you to imagine this, we’re post chaotic events, there is mass destruction and devastation in the land.

But there is actually hope.

At least, that’s what it looks like.

A message begins circulating across emergency broadcasts and battery‑powered radios. A leader has emerged — not a dictator or warlord…a calming familiar voice, a meteoric leader with political experience, not clawing for control, but a man of noble character, poised, and dignified.

He is a co‑prince, and former world leader of a small but influential nation. For years, he quietly garnered respect from neighboring countries. Smaller nations admired him. International coalitions trusted him. He was the kind of leader who could walk into a room of rivals and leave with allies.

And now, in the ashes of global chaos, he steps forward again.

His name is Emmanuel.

And in a world drowning in fear, that name feels like oxygen. It means “God with us.” A name tied to ancient prophecy. A name that sounds like salvation.

Emmanuel brings a calming but confident message to collapsing Nations, shredded economies, and paralyzed governments. He steps up to unify and lead the nations to bring much needed unity required to stabilize currencies, distribute resources, and rebuild infrastructure. He speaks of peace with such conviction that even long‑standing enemies begin to soften.

He becomes the face of hope and the symbol of stability in a time when people are desperate for hope.

Even the religious leaders see him as a beacon of light remaining after all the tragedy; and you hear some whispering…could he possibly be the Messiah come to save the Immanuel from Isaiah 7:14 come to fulfilling the ancient prophecy from Isaiah 9:6:

“And the government will be on his shoulders… Wonderful Counselor… Prince of Peace.”

He seems to check the box and the world is mesmerized.

People have accepted him in their hearts. His peace calmed them. His leadership reassured them and His name prepared them.

How about you? Would you receive him?

Emmanuel — the counterfeit Christ — has completed the deception.

Because remember what Jesus said in John 5:43 - I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him.

If you answered 'no' before, maybe you should give it another thought, because the Lord warns us that false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen.

That means the deception that’s coming, the antichrist that will lead the world straight off a cliff, will be so convincing that maybe even you will fall for it.

1 Corinthians tell us “Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise.”

The Warning From 1 John 5

In a time when the world is desperate for hope, Scripture gives a clear anchor — a way to discern truth from deception.

1 John teaches that everyone who believes Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and those born of God overcome the world not through signs, miracles, or political peace, but through faith in the true Son of God.

It reminds us:

  • Love for God is shown by keeping His commands, not by following a charismatic leader.

  • His commands are not burdensome, meaning truth is never wrapped in coercion or forced loyalty.

  • The Spirit, the water, and the blood testify to Jesus — and they agree. The real Christ is confirmed by God’s testimony, not human applause.

  • Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life.

This is the dividing line.

Not miracles. Not peace treaties. Not global unity. Not temple reconstruction. Not supernatural signs. Not political credibility.

Life is found only in the true Son of God — the One who came by water and blood, whose identity is testified by the Spirit of truth.

Any leader who claims divinity without the testimony of the Spirit, the water, and the blood is a counterfeit.

Any leader who demands worship is a liar.

Any leader who contradicts the testimony God has given about His Son is not the Christ.

And 1 John warns that those who reject God’s testimony about Jesus — the real Jesus — are embracing deception.

So, to ensure you are able to stand firm on the truth here are a few things you can do to avoid deception:

1. Know the REAL Christ.

Not the cultural version. Not the political version. Not the miracle‑working version. The Christ testified by the Spirit, the water, and the blood.

“1 Corinthians 12:3 tells us that no one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit.”

2. Love God by keeping His commands.

Obedience is protection - the word tells us in 1 John 2:3 By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. And the Jesus reiterates

Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’  (Matthew 7:23)

Further highlighting the importance of showing our love for him by keeping his commands.

3. Trust God’s testimony over human testimony.

The world will celebrate false messengers and false saviors - God does not. (Topical Bible: False Prophets and Their Lies)

4. Remember that overcoming the world comes through faith — not through a global leader.

Faith is victory. Not signs. Not wonders. Not political peace. (Hebrews 11: Faith and Assurance)

5. Anchor yourself in the Spirit of truth.

The Spirit exposes deception. The Spirit reveals Christ. The Spirit testifies — and His testimony never aligns with the Antichrist.

The world will be desperate for hope. And Emmanuel will look like hope.

But hope without truth is deception. Peace and Unity without Christ is counterfeit.

Those who cling to the testimony of Jesus — those who believe he is the true Son of God — will overcome the world and will not be fooled.

Anyone who elevates men above (or even equal to) the Master and Savior who bought us by his own blood is following a counterfeit. (John 16:13)

So remember, the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.” We’re instructed not to boast about human leaders! Because in Christ we have everything - we have hope and everything we need to face any and every situation.

So stay prayed up family so that you won’t fall victim to the deception of this age.

I’ll leave you will Jesus words to all of us all in his letter to the church in Philadelphia

The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
